We're incredibly proud to have worked in partnership with Embrace Wigan and Leigh, people with lived experience, carers, community organisations, advocacy groups, academics and system leaders from across Greater Manchester to help deliver the Greater Manchester Social Care Commission.
Over the past nine months, the Commission has brought people together with one shared purpose: to improve adult social care across Greater Manchester.
From the outset, we wanted this Commission to be different. We wanted to create a genuinely co-produced space where people with lived experience worked alongside system leaders as equal partners. A place where people could speak honestly about the frustrations, challenges and opportunities within a complex system, and where those conversations could lead to practical solutions.
Together, we co-produced a set of recommendations shaped by the voices, experiences and expertise of everyone involved. Every conversation, every challenge and every shared experience has helped shape a vision for a better social care system.
This report isn't the finish line. It's the beginning of the next stage.
Disability Stockport remains committed to working alongside our partners across Greater Manchester to help turn these recommendations into meaningful change for everyone who relies on adult social care.
A huge thank you to every Commission member and partner organisation who contributed their time, knowledge and lived experience throughout this journey. Together, we've shown what's possible when lived experience isn't just heard, but helps shape the future of social care.
